"Large machining operation"

A large machine shop was spending a lot of money to have their wastewater hauled off-site for disposal. Wastewater stream consisted of multiple cleaning applications that were all switched to ESS neutral cleaners. Once all cleaning applications were switched to ESS neutrals, an incoming neutral pH was guaranteed. Through a joint venture and a state grant, ESS constructed a biosystem to remediate the wastewater.

Benefits of switching to the ESS neutrals: 

• Waste stream was segregated to contain only cleaning wastewater and not compressor condensate or rinse water

• Processed of over 300,000 gallons of wastewater in a year

• Disposal costs went from $0.28/gallon to $0.03/gallon, an 89% reduction

• Low operating and maintenance costs of about $10,000 per year

• Biosystem installation cost is only one-third of traditional chemical waste water treatment

• Incoming oil levels of 20,000 ppm FOG are reduced to under 200 ppm with carbon dioxide and water being the only byproducts

• Biosystem also reduced heavy metals

• Consistently achieved the POTW FOG discharge standards over traditional wastewater treatment system
